MOM-JEANS-2 MOM-JEANS-1 MOM-JEANS-10 MOM-JEANS-7 MOM-JEANS-9

GET THE LOOK | cashmere sweater (sold out at AYR, but found similar at Everlane) // jeans // slingbacks (mine are Loeffler Randal flats, but try the Sam Edelman version with a teeny heel)

Catch me on the street on a regular day and, 9 times out of 10, I’m not wearing skinny jeans. I’m probably not wearing anything form-fitting, actually. I love when my clothes are a little bit loose, a little bit baggy, a little bit roomy. You know—just a tad oversized. I feel way sexier in mom jeans and a flowing silk cami than I do in a form-fitting dress. I’m not ashamed of my body (at all). I just like a little space between me and my clothes.

I don’t feel like I need to wear mom jeans now that I’m an actual mom. My style hasn’t really changed on account of my becoming a mom (although I do wear heels far less often than I did before #LifeWithMayaLauren). As I’ve gotten older, I’ve gotten better at defining and wholeheartedly embracing my personal style, so I’m definitely less interested in chasing trends. I don’t care if everyone’s fascination with mom jeans ends next season—I’m pretty sure it will always be my favorite fit, and I’ll wear them for the rest of my life, along with slingbacks, square-fit shirts, and dresses with pockets.

Speaking of personal style…I’m finally sharing spring/summer capsule wardrobe on the blog tomorrow! It took months of discipline and a bit of a financial investment (since I basically started from scratch), but it’s finally done. I’m really proud of this shift to a minimal lifestyle. I don’t own a thing I don’t like, plus getting dressed has NEVER been easier. No matter how I put things together, I always end up looking and feeling 100% like myself, which has been the best part.

  • Yes! Button-down-flannel makes A LOT of sense. I had a shirt like that I loved for a few years, too! Comfy and cozy (and will never go out of style).
