Have you ever had “sun flu,” or been “sun drunk”? Okay, well that happened to me this weekend. I wanted to work on a few blog posts and get some wedding stuff done, so I thought it would be great to go out to Marcus Garvey Park and work outside (the whole park has great FREE wi-fi). We were probably only out there for an hour, but when I got back inside, I had a headache, I felt dehydrated, and I just wanted to take a nap. I felt like I had a hangover. Bleh.
I wore what is easily becoming my favorite piece. This kimono jacket from Urban Outfitters is just gorgeous. And it’s so easy to wear! I’ve already worn it four times, and I’ve probably had it for two weeks. There are so many options when it comes to how to wear a kimono jacket, but I prefer wearing it with a tank and shorts. The kimono just adds instant “glam” to an otherwise basic tank and shorts combo. And if you’re wearing a kimono jacket that’s as bold and colorful as this one, keep everything else neutral. You don’t want the beautiful print to compete with anything else you’re wearing!
Can I tell you all a secret? I almost straightened my hair on Friday. Yeah, I know. I’ve been doing such a good job of keeping up with my protective styling and Curlformer sets, but I really wanted to feel the wind in my hair this weekend. I’m glad I decided against it though. My hair is no longer breaking (YES!) and it just feels really healthy and strong. So instead of straightening, I co-washed and detangled my hair with Trader Joe’s Nourish Spa Conditioner, deep conditioned my hair with SheaMoisture’s Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque, and then twisted my hair with Herbal Essence’s Honey I’m Strong Conditioner. Before twisting my hair, I moisturized it (while damp) with KBB Sweet Ambrosia Leave-In Conditioner, then added a bit of Camille Rose Naturals Curlaide Moisture Butter, and sealed it all in with does of EVCO. Every morning I moisturize and seal my twists with those same products, pin up my hair, and go about my business. It’s been so easy, and I really love the style!
Anywho, I hope you were able to enjoy the lovely weather this weekend…without getting sun drunk, of course.
