Once in a while you come across a blogger that gets it right, each and every time. The outfits are perfect, the images are perfect, the branding is perfect…I felt that way when I came across Mattie’s blog for the first time. She knows how to put together a great post, and I love her for it. Mattie is so good at what she does! And she’s not stuffy or bitchy about it (follow her on Twitter! She’s a hoot!) If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading Mattieologie before, I’m so happy I have the pleasure of introducing you =)
Tell us a bit about your blog and why you started blogging.
My blog is Mattieologie.com, and it’s where I live what I love. It’s a personal style diary where I relate what’s going on in my life with what I’m wearing. Blogging was sort of an accident. It was really an escape from my retail management gig at the time. It was on Blogger with the blogspot domain for a year or so. I only treated it as a hobby. When I won Miss Liberia USA in 2009, I decided to take it more seriously and bought the domain and started blogging consistently.
What are 5 fashion items (clothes, shoes, accessories, etc.) that describe your personal style?
What’s your go-to hairstyle?
I’m all about protective styles especially now that it’s summer. I literally haven’t put heat on my hair in about a year. I’ve been doing a full sew in. It’s easy for me especially with my hectic schedule plus I’ve been fortunate to work with hair companies who have gifted me hair for review.
I think it’s awesome. It’s necessary because we make up a demographic who has a lot of buying power and has a relevant voice in digital media. I mean Twitter alone proves that point. That was the entire point of me starting Style Bloggers of Color. To highlight those bloggers who were diverse but still relevant in fashion, beauty & lifestyle blogging. There will never be too many Black style bloggers because we’re already the minority – not only in race but in the blogosphere, period.
